About Amelia Fettig Counseling

Hi, I’m Amelia Fettig.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Eric, and we have one son, David, who brings us laughter. Our family is complete with four indoor kitties (if doing telehealth, you will probably see them running around) and I care for the community/feral kitties. As my brothers say I am the crazy cat lady but with a husband! I love all animals, everything University of Michigan athletics, photography, and being with my family and friends.

Life can be messy and hard. Together, we will build your skill base to overcome any challenges. I engage weekly with clinicians who help guide and oversee my practice to provide the best services to my clients. I look forward to working with you!

Life can be hard and downright exhausting.

Whatever reason brought you here, please know you are welcome, and I am looking forward to hearing your story.

My number one job is to provide you with a safe environment to tell your story and how you have coped with the stress and turmoil you’ve experienced. And to give you tools to achieve your stated therapy goals and help you change your life's direction.

The therapeutic relationship is dynamic and fluid, changing as you grow — and as we grow together.

  • I believe I learn as much from my clients as they do from me.

  • I value honest and transparent relationships in my therapy work.

  • I acknowledge that therapy is hard work.

  • I believe a therapist and client should establish a bond and that laughter and camaraderie should be an integral part of your therapy.

I have worked with offenders in the Emmet County Court systems as Emmet County Community Corrections Director for five years. While pursuing my degree, I also worked with a nonprofit agency that went into families' homes involved with local CPS and Foster Care Programs. I worked with the family on their goal to have a healthy and functional home.

I want you to feel comfortable telling me your story.

What you say will not surprise me and will not make me judge you. My job is to provide safety so you can work through challenges. It can be very uncomfortable and if you get mad, sad, or overwhelmed, it’s ok. We may laugh and cry together. Your world may be tumultuous but when you log onto the computer for your telehealth session, or you walk into my office, my hope is that you will feel safe and secure for one hour.

I started my business because my time in therapy changed my life. I will be forever grateful to my therapists as they challenged and encouraged me to adopt healthier attitudes and coping skills so I could experience real change I craved and experience success I longed for.

With therapy, you can choose your own path and learn ways to walk down the road no matter what others or life throw at you.
